·  Describe the microbiology and epidemiology of Mycoplasma pneumoniae relevant to pediatric emergency care.

·  Compare the diagnostic accuracy of PCR and serum IgM testing for Mycoplasma pneumoniae, including sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values.

·  Interpret current evidence on clinical outcomes in pediatric patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae who receive antibiotic therapy versus those who do not.

·  Analyze literature comparing short-course (3-day) and standard-course (5-day) azithromycin regimens.

·  Apply evidence-based principles to develop diagnostic and treatment recommendations for pediatric patients presenting with suspected Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in the emergency department.

Use recent ED cases to discuss management and stabilization of critically ill patients, specifically: 

Review ED trends in volume, admissions, LWBS, mortalities since last M&M.

Child Abuse Radiology: Dr. Kim

  1. Understand the Radiologist’s role in Non-Accidental Trauma
  2. Describe and understand the mechanism of the fracture types highly specific for Child Abuse
  3. Become familiar with the most common visceral injuries in Child Abuse
