Series Description

The Infection Prevention Champions program meets quarterly to provide essential training and updates to staff who care for pediatric patients with special isolation needs. Originally established as the Covid Champions program, the initiative focuses on equipping staff with sound, evidence-based information to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and healthcare teams. Each quarterly session covers a different topic of concern, with feedback from evaluations used to guide future sessions. The upcoming session will focus on H5N1, where participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the virus, including specific care protocols and PPE requirements for pediatric patients presenting with high-risk or emerging special pathogens at Children’s National Hospital. This session will provide the necessary tools and best practices to ensure the safe and effective management of such cases, while prioritizing the protection of both patients and healthcare staff.
