William Pevec, MD
Dr. Pevec is Professor and Chief Emeritus of Vascular Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, and a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He joined the Department of Surgery at UC Davis in 1992, and was chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery from 1999 until his retirement in 2018. He served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery for six years, and is a past president of the Western Vascular Society.
Currently, Dr. Pevec is the Docent Coordinator for Stebbins-Cold Canyon Natural Reserve. He started and is leading the UC Davis Health Sustainability Advocates at the UC Davis Medical Center, and is a member of the UC Davis Health Sustainability Committee. He was recognized with a Faculty Champion Campus Sustainability Award by the UC Davis Office of Sustainability in 2020, and a “Sustainability Saves” award from the UC Davis Health System in 2023. He is an active member of Climate Health Now, and is co-leading their Healthcare Sustainability Fellowship. He is an advisor to Healthcare Sustainability Fellowship of the University of California Center for Climate, Health, and Equity. He serves on the Climate Smart Healthcare Working Group of the Medical Society Consortium for Climate and Health.
