Mark Batshaw, MD
Dr. Batshaw received his M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and a fellowship in Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He previously served on the faculty of John Hopkins and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Batshaw served as Chief Academic Officer, Director of the Children’s National Research Institute (1998 to 2021) and Physician-in-Chief (2015-2021) at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Batshaw also was Chairman of Pediatrics (1998-2014) and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (2000-2016) at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Batshaw has spent his entire career in the care of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. He has published over 200 articles and reviews and is senior editor of the classic textbook, Children with Disabilities now in its 8th edition. Dr. Batshaw's research has focused on developing novel treatments for inborn errors of metabolism, in which he is considered an international authority. He became interested in disaster preparedness during his work as Physician-in-Chief during COVID and is a PI of the Pediatric Pandemic Network
