Andrew Racine

Andrew D. Racine, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP is the System Senior Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer of the Montefiore Health System and Executive Director of the Montefiore Medical Group. He holds appointments as Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) and was previously a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in Manhattan. Dr. Racine received his M.D. and Ph.D. in economics from New York University as a National Research Service Award scholar from 1975-1983. He subsequently trained in pediatrics at the Boston Children’s Hospital before returning to New York City to serve for six years on the faculty of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons after which time he was recruited to join the Einstein/Montefiore system. His research collaborations at the NBER have involved the impact of a variety of public health programs on child health outcomes. He has also been heavily involved in child health advocacy at the national level with the American Academy of Pediatrics and served on the AAP’s national Committee on Child Health Financing and Chair of the National Task Force of Poverty and Child Health. He was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of the NBER and he is currently the President-elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
