Nicola Brodie is the medical director of the Complex Care Program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC which serves as the Medical Home for over 800 children with medical complexity and their families. Dr. Brodie is passionate about the impact of social determinants of health on children with medical complexity and their families and her academic work focuses on care at this intersection. Dr Brodie completed her medical degree at the Ben Gurion University Medical School for International Health in Beer Sheva, Israel in 2013. She completed her pediatric residency training and Chief Resident year at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. After completing her training in 2017, Dr. Brodie joined the faculty at St. Christopher’s in primary care and the Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs. In 2018, she was named Co-Medical Director of Pediatric Specialty Care - Philadelphia, a network of residential sites offering transitional and long-term care services to children and youth with complex medical and social needs. In 2020, Dr. Brodie joined the faculty at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. In 2022 she became the Medical Director of the outpatient Complex Care Program. She is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is also active in the community and serves on the Board of Directors of Special Olympics, DC. She lives in the DC suburbs with her husband and four young children who teach her how much there is to learn about real life pediatrics every day.
