Description:
This module will review the trap of the fight/flight/freeze/fawn response and how it colludes with crisis culture. We will explore how to define healthy boundaries while also working in a collaborative, patient-centered model of care.  We will look at case examples of innovative approaches to reduce stress and trauma response within healthcare systems.

Goal:
Improve understanding of how certain systems, protocols, and procedures can impact the stress response and create trauma for both staff and patients.

Objectives:

  1. Review neurobiology of trauma and common workplace triggers.
  2. Translate trauma within specific workplace case studies.
  3. Identify changes to workflow (intake, collaborative meeting times, on call, etc.) to reduce trauma activation hot spots.
