By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure of the youth homelessness response system in Washington, DC.
- Identify common causes and systemic drivers of youth homelessness.
- Explain how youth typically navigate the system of care, including how they access shelter, housing, case management, and clinical services.
- Outline the typical “life of a case” from intake through exit in youth-serving housing programs.
- Know the array of services provided by Sasha Bruce Youthwork, including emergency shelters, transitional housing, clinical supports, education and workforce programs, and family engagement services.
- Apply knowledge of the youth homelessness system to improve hospital discharge planning and strengthen coordination with community-based providers
