By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the structure of the youth homelessness response system in Washington, DC.
  2. Identify common causes and systemic drivers of youth homelessness.
  3. Explain how youth typically navigate the system of care, including how they access shelter, housing, case management, and clinical services.
  4. Outline the typical “life of a case” from intake through exit in youth-serving housing programs.
  5. Know the array of services provided by Sasha Bruce Youthwork, including emergency shelters, transitional housing, clinical supports, education and workforce programs, and family engagement services.
  6. Apply knowledge of the youth homelessness system to improve hospital discharge planning and strengthen coordination with community-based providers
