In this session we will discuss the persistent inequities in healthcare communication experienced by historically marginalized groups. Specifically, we’ll take a journey, using a case study, to discuss issues around serious illness and how they manifest in our healthcare communication with patients and their families.
Objectives:
Identify systemic and individual barriers to equitable and ethical healthcare communication
Develop strategies for partnering with families from historically marginalized groups
Apply practical communication tools to connect with families from historically marginalized groups
