Series Description:
Providing critical care to children with congenital or acquired cardiac disease requires a highly specialized, dynamic, and multidisciplinary team. This educational series covers a range of CICU topics in three different formats: didactic lectures, case discussions, and journal clubs. Didactic lectures cover specific cardiac pathologies, organ system interactions, and emergency management. Case discussions review in depth pathophysiology and literature review of challenging cardiac pathology. Journal clubs review both novel CICU literature, as well as foundational literature in the field. Many of these CICU educational sessions involve other teams (Neonatology, Nephrology, and Neurology) to promote cross-discipline communication and education.
