Marius George Linguraru, DPhil MA MSc

Marius George Linguraru, DPhil MA MSc, loves to work with multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, scientists, and engineers to advance global health with AI solutions for vulnerable children and patients with rare diseases. He is the Connor Family Professor and Endowed Chair in Research and Innovation at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, where he leads the AI research initiatives and serves as Principal Investigator in the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. Dr. Linguraru is also Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He co-founded PediaMetrix Inc. and advises MGeneRx Inc., two companies focused on the well-being of children through AI solutions. He joined Children’s National from the National Institutes of Health, completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford, and held fellowships at the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (INRIA) and Harvard University.
Dr. Linguraru is the recipient of multiple awards. He was honored for Excellence in Engineering at the Houses of Parliament in London, UK and his AI technology for mobile non-invasive screening for genetic conditions was a finalist in STAT Madness 2018, the contest for top innovations in science and medicine organized by STAT News. His work was featured by media outlets including The Economist, The Washington Post, The Times (of London), and Associated Press. Dr. Linguraru has served on boards and committees of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the Society of Medical Information Processing and Analysis. He is the President of the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society.
