Michaela Dellenmark-Blom, PNS, Dr. Med, Associate Professor, Director

Michaela Dellenmark Blom is a Doctor of Medical Sciences (PhD), Associate Professor and the Director of a “Centre of Excellence for Patient-Reported Outcomes in Pediatric HealthCare” at Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. She is a Researcher at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg and Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden and additionally a Visiting Scientist/researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital, MA, US. Starting with a clinical background as a pediatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Dellenmark-Blom has throughout her career been committed to research of children with chronic conditions, especially those with rare and complex conditions. She has for a long time specialized in the methodology and application of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) in the pediatric populations and is the principal investigator of several national and international research projects covering the development, use in clinical research and implementation of PROMs in clinical practice of children with chronic conditions, especially those with rare and complex conditions. She is also the chair or committed member of several international steering committees and working groups within this field. A main contribution is her lead of a research initiative with 23 countries and the global support group of esophageal atresia-tracheoesophageal fistula, in the establishment of the first disease-specific quality of life questionnaire for children born with esophageal atresia-tracheoesophageal fistula.
