Darcel Jackson is a devoted mother who experienced the profound impact of having a daughter, Anniyah, with complex health needs. This journey profoundly altered her life and ignited her passion for fostering positive change within the healthcare system and family caregiving. Her mission is to promote inclusive and equitable care for all.
Darcel currently serves as the Manager of Patient and Family Centered Care at Children’s National. In this role, she advances Patient and Family Centered Care by collaborating with patients and family members to align with the organization's mission and values. She plays a key role in designing, implementing, and evaluating services and programs that enhance family-centered care, actively involving patients and families as co-designers and co-facilitators in various committees, projects and patient and family advisory councils (PFACs).
She serves as Family as Faculty on Children’s National System-level Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and through her participation sits on various hospital committees (i.e., co-chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Patient, Family and Community Engagement Sub-Committee, Clinical Effectiveness Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Patient Facing Technologies Committee, etc.).
