Megan Young
Megan Young, MD, has exclusively practiced pediatric orthopedics at Children’s National and served as assistant professor for George Washington University for nearly 12 years following her pediatric orthopedic fellowship training at the Texas Scottish Rite University Hospital and orthopedic residency training at Boston University. Committed to the mission of POSNA, she has served on several committees, reviewed countless abstracts, chaired lower extremity subspecialty day, and co-hosted the most recent POSNA/EPOS meeting in Washington DC. She took early advantage of what POSNA has to offer and was honored to be selected for the POSNA/SLAOTI Traveling Fellowship in 2015 where she learned from colleagues in South America, lectured on the history of limb lengthening and shared her own experiences with internal lengthening devices while building lifelong friendships. She remains committed to evidence-based fracture care in young patients and continues to be involved with the Orthopedic Trauma Association and her role as the Orthopedic Liaison to the Trauma Committee at Children’s National where she has implemented guidelines for the care of trauma patients with complex orthopedic and vascular injuries. She trained in a basic science lab for one year investigating the biology and enhancement of fracture repair which coupled her research with clinical interests. Seeking to grow her knowledge in the management of both congenital and posttraumatic limb deformity/deficiency, she was awarded the LLRS Traveling Fellowship in 2019 where she spent time with leaders in the field learning new advanced techniques. While she enjoys treating a range of pediatric orthopedic conditions, her career has evolved to focus on lower extremity deformity, lengthening and reconstruction, and she is indebted to the skill and expertise of numerous mentors through both POSNA and the LLRS, who have guided her through many challenging cases and allowed expansion of her clinical practice. She has been blessed with the opportunity to treat children from all over the world who reside in our nation’s capital and through mission trips. She prides in the ability to give children back a functional quality of life.
