Adrianne Artis, MD, FAAP

Dr. Adrianne Artis is a pediatrician specializing in Child Abuse Pediatrics. After completing her undergraduate studies at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, she earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. Dr. Artis then completed her general pediatrics residency at Orlando Health in Orlando, Florida, followed by a fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In August 2018, she joined the Child and Adolescent Protection Center at Children’s National Hospital as a full-time Child Abuse Pediatrician and Medical Director of the Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) program.
As a member of the Child and Adolescent Protection Team, Dr. Artis conducts medical evaluations and offers expert opinions on child maltreatment to pediatric colleagues both within and outside the hospital. She also collaborates with community partners, including those in the District of Columbia and Prince George's County Child Abuse Multi-Disciplinary Teams. Her role regularly involves working with child protective services, law enforcement, and legal professionals, as well as providing expert witness testimony in court cases. Dr. Artis has a special interest in serving as the Child Protection representative on the hospital’s trauma committee, researching racial disparities in child abuse evaluations, and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
