Natalie Hernandez-Green, PhD, MPH

Dr. Hernandez-Green is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Founding and Executive Director of the Center for Maternal Health Equity at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). She earned her Master of Public Health from Emory University and her PhD in public health from the University of South Florida. With over 17 years of experience, Dr. Hernandez-Green’s research is dedicated to advancing health equity through rigorous methodology and community engagement approaches. Her work focuses on eliminating women’s health inequities via a multi-sectoral and multi-level translational research approach. A NIH R01 funded researcher, she has secured diverse extramural funding, including for the inaugural NIH Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence. She has established crucial partnerships with organizations addressing maternal morbidity and mortality disparities and has evaluated numerous maternal health interventions and programs. Her research also validates effective measures of maternal mental health, medical mistrust, and psychosocial factors. Dr. Hernandez-Green serves on several important maternal health committees and has presented her work at various international, national, state, and local conferences.
