Birte Wistinghausen, MD
Dr Wistinghausen is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University and the Medical Unit Director for the Center of Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr Wistinghausen completed her medical training at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany and Pediatric and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology training at New York University (NYU).She has held faculty appointments at NYU and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai including being Medical Director and Acting Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
Her clinical research concentrates on Histiocytosis and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, specifically the role of EBV in Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative Syndrome (PTLD) and cellular therapy in PTLD. she is a member of the Executive committee of the North American Consortium for Histiocytic Disorders (NACHO). Within the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), her roles include Principal Co-Investigator of ANHL1522, a phase II study of rituximab and EBV-specific T-cells in patients with PTLD, Responsible Investigator for B-Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, chair of the NHL Subcommittee for PTLD, the Vice-Chair for Education of the NHL committee.
