Miglia Cornejo

Dr. Miglia Cornejo is a 2nd year child and adolescent psychiatry fellow at Children’s National Hospital. She completed her psychiatry residency at George Washington University and received her medical degree from A.T. Still University in Arizona. Prior to medical school, she studied chemical engineering with the intention of pursuing a research career in biotechnology. She ultimately shifted her career path, motivated by her desire to work with patients directly.
Dr. Cornejo is part of the integrative care track, a specialized fellowship track that supports the development of child and adolescent psychiatrists as experts in various integrated care models. As part of this track, she has gained early experience to various models of integrative care. Currently, she has an embedded role within a primary care clinic and works collaboratively with pediatricians and pediatric residents to increase mental health access.
She recently attended a conference in San Diego learning how collaborative care can help close gaps in mental health care access by integrating psychiatry into primary care settings. She’s excited to share key learning points from the training and to inspire others to view integrated mental health care as the norm, not the exception.
