Kathleen Delaney, PhD, PMHNP, FAAN

Kathleen R Delaney, PhD, PMH-NP, FAAN is a professor emerita at Rush College of Nursing. Her funded research has focused on creating safe and healing psychiatric environments for individuals with serious emotional disorders (SED) (PCORI and NINR grants) and on increasing access to child mental health services. For 7 years (2012-2018) Dr Delaney was the Project Director for Government funded- Graduate Nursing Education Demonstration project where she developed NP practice models for the underserved. From 2019-2023 she was the Program Director of the HRSA funded Nurse Practitioner (NP) Residency Program. She has authored numerous policy statements focused on prevention and bringing child mental health services to the community settings where individuals live and work. Dr Delaney also focuses on the behavioral health care workforce as a member of national committees studying workforce and quality of mental health care. She has authored over 200 peer reviewed articles, book chapters and commentaries. Dr Delaney is former editor (2014-2024) of the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nursing.
