Julie Heier, Licensed Psychologist, PhD
Dr. Julie Heier has been a faculty psychologist at Children’s National Hospital since 2020, specializing in supporting youth with chronic illnesses that impact quality of life and family systems. She also provides supervision to psychology interns on the consultation-liaison rotation.
Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Heier’s path to psychology was shaped by her experience as a program manager for the Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Program at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, where she helped develop and participated in the first Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Graduate Psychology Education grants focused on training psychologists in integrated behavioral health.
Dr. Heier completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in integrated primary care at Geisinger Medical Center and pediatric transplant psychology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Her clinical expertise includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and integrated behavioral health. She is deeply committed to clinical education and diversifying the future of psychology.
