Chris Rogers, MD, Medical Director, Associate Program Director

Dr. Rogers attended medical school as well as Adult Psychiatry residency and Child & Adolescent fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After completing his training he joined HCA as the Medical Director of Child & Adolescent Services at The HealthONE Mental Health & Wellness Center where he also serves as the Associate Program Director for the HealthONE Psychiatry Residency Program. His passions are teaching, psychotherapy and advocating for the needs of the families he serves. During his medical training he and a colleague developed an online module teaching first responders best practices when providing care to those with developmental disabilities. This online course continues to be used in several states as a free continuing education course for firefighters and paramedics. He is active in the Colorado Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Society where he currently serves as the Representative to the CPS Legislative Committee. One of his passions is working through advocacy efforts to ensure quality mental health care for all families in Colorado and the nation. As such he serves on the Advocacy Committee of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry working to provide increased access to care, improved parity for mental health and sensible legislation to provide support for the behavioral health system. He also serves on the AACAP Substance Use Committee as the committee's advocacy liaison. Dr. Rogers has testified in numerous legislative committees on issues such as banning conversion therapy in minors and multiple issues related to kid friendly marijuana regulation. He was part of the coalition that helped pass HB21-1317 which has been called the most substantial marijuana regulatory measure since legalization. He is active in following the available research around cannabis and has helped update the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry's Facts for Families on Adolescents and Marijuana. He regularly provides education to other physicians, families and policy makers about this issue in Colorado and provides consultation to psychiatrists in other states facing new legalization of cannabis. When he is not working too much he is typically playing too hard either climbing up a cliff or biking down a mountain. He has 3 wonderful kids who often remind him how it's hard to have a dad who always wants to have a "big talk."
